ChristianityTuesday: Buttered Up

With the arrival of fall our attention turns to the harvest.  It is true that the harvest is plenty and the workers are few but some crops are worth more than others.  This issue of ChristianityTuesday highlights the church's message of careful stewardship of our resources which has put us in a position to reach environmentalist seekers like never before.

Ohhhh . . . I'm gonna reveal my illegitimate knowledge of pop culture here, but wasn't that the name of a Stephen King novel/movie?

Someone from evangelical circles told me as a teenager that King would help me understand total depravity. King's or my friend's?

As I recall, it was a horror story set in an radical reformation separatist sect community.

This all rings a very faint bell, but I can't speak to it.

My sister was scared of the cornfield behind our house for months if not years because of that movie.

At least that is what she said. Maybe she was just trying to get out of weeding the garden?

I once heard someone say that movies are simply modern parables.

And yes, though I've never seen it, you've got the right reference. My understanding is that it is about some creepy kids. With the way things are going, I think there might be some parallels with the current generation.

I had a similar fear that kept me from pulling weeds: rutting unicorns.

Rutting unicorns?

You should have taken up bow hunting, that would be quite a trophy.
